Products I Regret Buying!

It is quite rare that I regret products I've bought, mainly because I research and read reviews of products before buying them. Most of the products I regret buying have been bought on impulse, while browsing Boots I find things to try out and pop them in my basket just because I feel like buying them! Ooops! The first product I really really regret buying is the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, this is a cult favourite among so many bloggers which is why I really wanted to try it. I used it back in September and it broke my skin out so so badly and it has never been the same since, I stopped using it just in case but wasn't 100% sure at the time whether I was breaking out because of the cleanser. A few weeks ago I decided to try and use up the bottle and give it another go, again my skin broke out, so many spots!! My skin was also ridiculously red and irritated, I tweeted about it and found a few other people that had also experienced this. Apparently due to the Cocoa Butter in it, it can irritate some skins! Obviously this was on my sensitive skin, so if you don't have sensitive skin it could work perfectly for you! Secondly is a foundation, I bought this because it is used to cover tattoo's and scars so thought it would be perfect to cover any imperfections I had! However I found that throughout the day my skin looks so oily and greasy, my skin does get a tiny bit shiny around my nose area but it is usually quite dry everywhere else so I was shocked when I looked in the mirror and saw that I looked like a giant greaseball, not a good look!

I personally love the Maybelline Colour Tattoo's, they are great! I bought the shade "Eternal Gold" for some reason..I think I thought it just looked pretty and it ended up in my shopping basket! As the name suggests, it's gold. It just does not look great on, it's pure gold and I have no clue what I was thinking and how I thought it would ever work! But I do own three other Colour Tattoo's and love them so much! Finally is the L'oreal Brow Pencil, I think these are a new product and I am constantly looking for products to make my brows look better and fuller than they are naturally! I think this could work on some reason but I've discovered that I really don't like pencils for filling in my brows, I just end up with a really dark and "drawn on" look, rather than the more natural finish I get with powders! The colour is also a tiny bit too red toned, making it look a little more unnatural on my hair!

Do you have any products you wouldn't recommend?

  1. It's great to read this post, as I've been thinking about trying the Liz Earle cleanser, having heard such rave reviews about it. It's on the pricy side though so I've resisted so far. I've got really sensitive skin too so maybe I should give it a miss! It's always interesting to read which products people have regretted buying - also makes me feel better when I've made a beauty mistake! :)

    That Don't Impress Me Much

I've been wanting to try the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish for so long but I love No 7's version which is great for my skin so I probably won't pick it up as I don't like changing things that work well for me :)

  4. Thank you for the advice. I have wanted to try the Vichy Dermablend foundation in the stick form for a while now but the price has been putting me off. I think it is approx €26 where I live. I will def test it out now before I take the plunge. xxx

  5. That's so strange about the gold color tattoo because I felt exactly the same when I reviewed it. There's something about it that's just a bit different from the rest of the colours in the range! xo

  6. I completely agree with you about the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, it was something I bought after hearing such reviews about it and it did the same to me, it broke my skin out completely and took a VERY long time to get back to it's normal state!

    Such a shame....

  7. Agree on the Vichy foundation. It didn't work for me as well. And now I'll think twice before buying the Cleanse&Polish since my skin is quite sensitive :)

  11. I really didn't get on with the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish either - I don't know why they market it at all skin types, because it really isn't suitable for everyone! :/
